Chimney Refurbishment

Brick and Stucco Chimneys form part of the “Roof as a System®” that are outside a home deteriorate over the years, which causes leakage in the home.

The areas of deterioration is the flashing, the bricks become porous and absorb water and often there is no pot or crown on older homes.

When Penfolds are invited to estimate a roof replacement cost we will investigate the exterior of the chimney to ensure that it is in good repair for the next number of years of it’s service.

In specific we will inspect:

1. The mortared in “counter-flashings” which do not form part of the roof system

2. The condition of the mortar between the courses of bricks

3. The condition of the pot & crown on the chimney

In the customized proposal that Penfolds Roofing prepare for our customer a detailed scope of work and pricing will be provided at the same time as the roof replacement proposal is drawn up for the chimney refurbishment including rebuilding
the chimney if necessary
